Montreal lost the Expos!

Well that's it, folks. Montreal lost the Expos yesterday. Not that I am a baseball fan, but I still find it rather sad because the Montreal Expos have been part of our culture (here in Quebec) since 1968. They were named the Expos in memory and honour of Expo '67 (and I'm born in 1967...). I think it stinks that they are going to Washington. Oh well...

If only there hadn't been a strike in '95, they had a real shot! 2 years Toronto and the next Montreal, would've been great.

The sad thing is its due to our rich neigbor, we lost the Nordiques, the Jets, now, in baseball, the Expos. I'm an Oilers fan, they're the next to be sacrificed on the altar of American greed.

I'm really getting frustrated too, Avatar! It's not that I do not like our southern neighbours, the Americans, but I get fed up of their power over Canadians and the rest of the world!

I know what you mean Victrixa. I love America and our American friends. Its just too bad that we have to lose our sports teams because they can make more money in the U.S.


It's business, I know, but still I'd rather root for the Montreal Expos than the Washington Senators.

Though (back to hockey) I do like the Boston Bruins!

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing. I don't know what I'm going to do for my baseball fix now...

By the way, there are some incorrect dates up there. Expos started in 69 and the strike was in 94

On the first of the month I heard a news commentator say that the deal, though finished, has a hurdle it may have to pass. It seems that there were shenanigans by one of the main people involved and that there has been a complaint to the attorney general under the RICO provisions of US law. It is just possible that the deal may be classed as illegal and overturned. I haven't heard anything about this recently... I'm not a ball fan... but I haven't heard that this law action was concluded.
