Monster Dreams

What if you dream of demons/creatures before you were saved. As a little girl, I dreamed of monsters quite often. Many times they were chasing me, and I would usually say, "This is just a dream" and I would wake up. One time, I said it, and the monster told me, "So" and scratched my arm. Then, as a teenager, I would dream of devil worshippers hunting after me, and when I was reading my bible/or pretty soon after I was saved, I dreamed of being sacrificed by devil worshippers, but when I called on Jesus, a bright light flashed, and I was taken from that...just woke up. Now, when I am very tired, I will dream of being held down, and sometimes a presence will be in my bedroom. I cannot wake up. After becoming a Christian, I have dreamt of an evil man. satan has been in my dreams, but always behind me so I cannot see him. I also have dreams from God, but I wonder if anyone has had this experience, and how has God used these bad dreams for the good in your life?

I have had dreams like these before. I guess the most postive thing that comes out of them is that you learn greater is He that is in you than he that is in this world. They teach you the authority you have in the name of Jesus. You see the word of God says no weapon formed against you shall prosper. It also says they overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. It seems you have some control in your dreams by interacting with the monesters, demons, or whatever you what to call them. So now put on the whole armor of God. Arm yourself with the Word of God for the tearing down of strong holds. It doesn't really matter why you have the dreams or if it is an attack of the devil. The answer is the same be strong in the Word of God. Pray before you go to sleep and ask the Lord to guard your heart and mind. Equip yourself with the word but instead of saying "this is just a dream" say be gone in the name of Jesus. Because to that name ever knee must bow. Everything in heaven and in earth is subject to the name of Jesus and to the Word of God.

It's not unusual to have dreams like this--the spirits spend a lot of energy trying to hack away at us one way or another, and in sleep we tend to allow more victimization. ("I'm too tired.")

The symbols, I think, could be just whatever your brain decided to use for "scary oppressive thing."

Someone once told me that demons can't read your mind, but can whisper into it. (That made a big difference for me in my approaches.) Similarly, I'd guess that demons can't give you visuals, but can speak words that cause the visuals to form.

I laughed at the "So." Sorry, just had to. It sounded like a little brother. Also like a conniving spirit.

I used to say, "This is just a dream" before I became a Christian. Now I say, "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ". Sometimes I will feel the presence in my room, and dream that I'm praying in tongues, even though I cannot wake up. One night, I just sat up in my bed (still in the dream state), pointed at the figure, and just said, "GET OUT!" (I was angry there was a presence there). This was the last dream I had--none since. I wonder about the relevance of having these dreams before I became a Christian and after. I like what the person told you about demons not reading your mind. I will remember that! Thanks!

Keep telling people how that works! So many of us fall into traps of feeling powerless against spiritual forces.

I know that there are medical names for some things you described, and wonder how many of these syndromes start out as demonic. It's so much easier to try "go away" first, than to spend time and money on diagnosis and meds! But when you're tired....
