Modern day prophets, do they really exist?

We're all aware of the biblical prophets, my question to you, is do you belive in today's society it is possible for a man to not only speak to God but also revive a reply?
The reason I ask is when I was 18 years old I had an experience which I truelly belive to be a calling from the lord but when ever I talk to anyone about it they look at me as though I'm crazy, I would love to know if anybody else has had similar experiences?

Were you experiencing a difficult period in your life? Were you a drug user,or suffering from depression ?

Bish, no I have never suffered with schizophrenia,or taken part in recreational drug use I do however suffer from depression and at this perticualler point in I was in morning over the passing of my grandfather this said I truelly belive this to be the work of the lord

I sympathize with you for your loss, however moments such as bereavement can produce a detrimental effect on the human mind.

It is thought or understood by many that there is no more prophesy as in the days of old, however, there was a letter to Jews in Yemen from a sage who said that in the end times prophesy would return, I would have to do a search amongst my notes and papers to find it though.
Today it is more referred to as Divine inspiration.
The prophets of old were often referred to as the "Insane",
because of their behaviour while under, sorry, can,t think of word, help me someone.
But when the power from the infinite goes through or even touches finite human body there will be a whole lot of shaking going on.

Just before I go and crash into the straw, I would like to say this,
I don,t like being dissrespectful, though it does happen at times, my weakness. But it is so that we all have gifts/talents, no one is missing out on that score, so I don,t think I,m easily offended. Just because someone does not understand me through no fault of their own, most probably they are more gifted in many ways, but I don,t like bringing up personal expiriences that much.
Just one thing though, I am convinced that it was through Divine inspiration that my dear father of blessed memory acted in such a way that we, the whole family survived a bomb night, the house was laid in ruins in a flash.

Probably an obvious observation but is this not why they call it faith? Some of us belive others do not, it dose not make either of us bad people we just have different views, and God bless the lord for makeing us all different.

Sounds like when I passed out the other day, too. But I wouldn't call it a divine visitation. Of course, if that's what you want or need to cope with whatever was going on in your life then take comfort from it. After all, that's what religion is for, isn't it?
