Does anyone here follow MMA? If so, which fighters would you list as your favorite? My personal favorite would be Fedor Emelianenko, but I suspect that his refusal to sign with the UFC may damage his legacy somewhat.

I'm actually a fan of Shogun Rua personally.
But after reading In His Steps, I've started questioning the morality of violence in all forms. Even violence as a sport.
I used to be rather into such things.

I once wanted to take Tae Kwon Do as a little kid. But my dad wouldn't allow it because he said it was un-Christian. At first, I was rather bitter at his words, but in the wisdom of my later years, I've come to understand his choice.
I've heard that story too. My style teaches a similar philosophy. The art of "fighting without fighting" is the best in my opinion.I'm into martial arts but I can still empathize with what you are saying here. I despise violence and haven't really fought another person since I was a kid in school. Most martial arts are not about aggression they are about mastering your own body and being able to survive physical conflicts that may be forced on you. I remember a story about a master ( I believe it was Gichin Funakoshi?) who was surrounded by a gang of 5 men. He tried to avoid conflict and pleaded with them but they attacked him. He ended up winning the fight against all five of them. When he told his students about it he looked despondent and they couldn't understand why because he just "won the fight". He told that he lost because he had to resort to violence.
In my style we teach that it is better to run then to hurt another person if you think you can escape in such a manner.
I also hope that Crocrop puts on a clinic against Ben Rothwell...
I know and I agree...it's just that my heart really wants him to make a another run for the title but my mind knows that it won't happenSorry, but I ran out of hope for Crocop after his last fight. He's clearly past his prime, mentally weak, and will probably finish his career like Ken Shamrock, ie, with a string of embarrassing consecutive losses on his record. Still, both are legends in their own right.
