I couldn't find a thread on here about this, so I apologize if perhaps I missed it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this upcoming WoW expansion?

I have heard mixed reviews about it. The Pandaren I believe come from Warcraft 3.

I think it looks pretty fun but it seems some players think it will be kind of fluffy and whatnot.

I am actually upset that they are taking melee weapons away from Hunters in this expansion.

I live seeing swords at my Hunter's sides and believe it or not, have saved my butt many times in PvP. I just need to get one wing clip off and it gives me extra time to back away and and for cool downs to expire.

I don't know much about the expansion because I've been falling out of love with World of Warcraft, but it doesn't seem that horrible. I liked Chen from the extra story line about the founding of Durotar in Warcraft 3.
Still it seems a bit odd to me to have an entire expansion focus on them. I also hate that they changed the leveling rate from 10 levels to 5 when cataclysm came out. It just feels like I'm doing so much less when I go through the levels and I feel like I haven't accomplished as much as I did in Wrath of the Lich King.

I've been turning my attention to The Old Republic now though. I'm having a blast with that game.

I am a huge fan of Star Wars, and payed Star Wars Galaxies for a number of years, but not a fan of SWtOR. I was in the beta and it just seemed bland compared to SWG.

I've only heard about SWG and seen a bit of gameplay, but I can understand why someone wouldn't like SWTOR in comparison.
The only thing is, they are trying to accomplish different things. From my understanding, SWG was trying to be a whole universe, a place to explore and leave your own mark in. SWTOR is trying to be a story, a series of events for you to play through and experience the tale of your character.
Personally I think they should have kept SWG around, as a free-to-play game. I would have loved to get into it, if I had ever gotten the chance.

That is exactly what the difference is.

I too wish they would have let it go to F2P, but what's done is done.

There is an option though and that's an emulator server. They have been working on one since the either the combat upgrade or the new game experience. These aren't official servers, but they aren't looking to make money off of them, so they are technically allowed.

Wow, that does stink. I actually didn't know that.

I am now kind of iffy on the expansion since making this thread. I really do not know if I want to try it.

I don't think I will be buying it. i'm sick of the very easy dungeons and I hate how to do anything really challenging I have to group up with at least 9 or 2 other people. and there is not much community in wow, I was really not able to make any close friends. I got sick of all the random people I always grouped up with. there is no content that is fun/a challenge to do for a lone wolf like myself either. wow feels more than ever like mashing the correct buttons and dancing around on the screen. I guess i'm just sick and tired of it being nearly impossible to die to normal mobs. if normal mobs were fun/a challenge to kill rather than just things I hit to get xp then maybe I would play wow still.

I am *loving* it! I must admit, I was a bit skeptical but am now thoroughly enjoying the expansion! :)

I have reached level 90 on my frost/arcane mage. I started playing my 75 shadow priest and got her to 76 yesterday. I am loving shadow priests more now than I did pre-expansion.

I also have a level 21 Pandaren monk. The monk class is a bit different but fun. :)

Anyone else playing?
