  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am in an LDR right now. I had planed on going out to meet her next summer and stay for a month. But I am missing her so bad I feel like I am going nuts. I think I may have to go sooner and just give up the month. But I know it will be at least 2 years before she moves here. So I was thinking...if I go, I am going to miss her even more when I get back. So I am so confused! Do I go sooner and not spend a month with her, or wait a year and spend a month with her?

The more you think about missing her, the longer it will seem. Take your mind off her (and yes, I know it's just so hard to do that because you're always thinking about her and how much you miss her and how much you want to be with her!). Read a book. Run a marathon. Bake a cake.

I would stick with the original plan to go out there next summer and stay for a month. That would cover 1)that your LDR has held strong over a good while, because it will have to keep going for even longer, and 2)being close to her for a month will give you both a feel for what it will be like seeing the person every day - everyone has mannerisms and idiosyncrasies that you obviously can't pick up over the internet.

I hate to be the party pooper, but I just got out of a LDR that lasted for nearly a year. We rarely got to see each other and things just did not change when we were finally closer to one another. 2 years is a long time to wait. You will grow and change quite a bit over the next year even. Also, if you have not met her yet and have not gotten to interact with her in person and won't for awhile, that's really really tough. Online is different than in person, not saying that it won't work, but it is an adjustment. Also, I have found, although this is not true for everyone, that it's hard not to become too focused on that person and missing them and to lose focus on your walk with God. Take it slowly and let God do His thing ;)
