Grok is now the Pentagon’s AI. Grok is owned by Musk who is now pals with Trump again. Musk also has his Starlink service through SpaceX and a Neuralink company looking at the human machine interface. At present chip- chemical interfaces are in the early stages and their most obvious advantage is a medical one. However in the future this technology could have military uses. Mobile data already accounts for 60% of internet traffic, there are a growing number of sensors collecting data from your mobiles. AI uses ten times the energy that old style search methods used but it is also far more effective in profiling users. At the moment in the West the Main motive for that is more effective marketing. In China and Russia the same tech is already being used for control. If they did perfect the chip- human interface then a ubiquitous network like Starlink could theoretically plant nudged suggestions in your mind by remote control.
What can we do to prevent such remote control in the future? Will competition between AI firms help, will human centric legislation like the EU AI Act be crucial? How effective could localised , custom AI be in defending agency from the hidden mechanisms of collection and control?
