We've had our boy name picked out for a couple months now, but have been having trouble with the middle name if our baby is a girl.

Just curious about your thoughts on these names...

Other suggestions are welcome as well - for the middle name. The first name is not negotiable as it's my Grandma's name. So I don't care if you don't like it. :D

Our last name is two syllables, stress on the first, and starts with an 'ah' sound.

Thanks

I like Elaine Grace. :) Rhymically, one syllable sounds better between the 2-syllable first name and the 2-syllable last name (this is, of course, my own bias), I would avoid Annalise because of the last name starting with an Ah sound. Madeleine is one of my favorite names ever, but it's a bit huge for a middle name with the two shorter names on either side. And Gabrielle, I'll admit, I just don't like.

So.. yeah. That's what I think. Elaine is a cool name, by the way. I've had a few great students by that name. :)

Thanks ladies. Not that you've made things any clearer...3 of the 4 names have almost equal votes. :D

One name I forgot to put in the poll that we were thinking on a while back is Elaine Genevieve. Thoughts on that compared to the others? For some reason we seem to be gravitating toward the three syllable names. Maybe since the first and last are two syllables.

I voted Elaine Grace. You could call her Laney Grace. ;-)
We plan to use Laney as a nickname. :) Not sure how we're going to spell it yet though....Laney, Lanie, Lainie, Lainey....Anyway...

To be honest, I like all of those names *reversed*

aka.. Gabrielle Elaine, Annalise Elaine, etc Its mainly because I dislike Elaine as a first name though, and all those middle names are so lovely, far too lovely to be middle names

Edit: and yes, I know you said the first name is non-negotiable, but I'm just showing you why I can't vote in your poll :D Just cause you won't change it doesn't make me like it any more haha ;)

I totally had the same thought  Elaine would make a fabulous middle name.... But Laney isn't bad.

Actually, my given name is Anita (after my grandmother) Elaine (after my great aunt). My mom used Elaine from day one. She knew she wanted to call me Elaine, but didn't think that Elaine Anita would sound as good.

I would have to agree with Blue that some of the names reversed sound better. My fav. would be Annalise Elaine.

The only thing that has been annoying for me is when I sign official documents. I forget to put my first name, and then I have to verify that i am the same person. Granted, this is a mild inconvenience.
