Hello, I'm just going through a lot right now.

I have this dream that I've been thinking of for actually the last 7 years. So far I've never done it. But I've looked into it several times but never followed through.

What it is is that I've lived in the same city my whole life. But I'd like to move to this other city by the coast that I really like. I think there would be tons more people, opportunities, better weather, and just a great life that I could build there.

My challenge though is that I'd be starting from scratch. Which has always scared me into staying where I am. Because my friends are here, I know girls here that like me, and my businesses are here. I could move my businesses though. Because I know my way around this city. And a variety of those dumb reasons that keep people comfortable and trapped.

So I'm wondering if anyone can relate to this kind of a life change? I'm wondering how I could build up the courage to actually do this rather that waste my life dreaming about it. Also could you please pray for me that I could gain the courage to make this happen.

I say go for it. Just suck up your fears and go for it! Life is short, man. Adventures should be embraced any chance you get.

i would say to go for it as well. you are still young and not married. it gets harder once you are married and have kids.

I would like to ask you why you want to move there. Is it just pleasure seeking? Or are there more godly reasons for going there, with pleasure as the side affect?

It's a calculated risk especially where business is concerned but being young is an advantage.

It is difficult having courage to make a big change in your life. I do not have experience in this because I live somewhere many people around the world come too (but I want to get away from-the biggest reason for not leaving is because all of my family is here. I cannot live without my family).

You just need to built up the strength to do so if you believe this will make your life better. Either way know that if things do not work out, you will always be welcomed back home I am sure.

Take a leap of faith in yourself and your dreams.

Well, you could move to a different city, be adventurous, and if it doesn't work out, you could move back "home," so to speak. People do that sometimes. At least you'll always know that at one time in life, you did try something else.
Also, these days internet usage is so prevalent, and there are all sorts of phone deals that allow one to keep in contact with friends much better than a couple of decades ago. You can go on facebook if you haven't already, and a lot of cell phone companies have deals that allow you to talk to people for free on weekends and in the evenings. It might not be the same as living in the same city as your friends and other comrades, but you wouldn't necessarily have to lose touch with them.

I moved from the Northern US to the Southern US a few years ago. I'd sort of started being eager to do something else, something different, to move elsewhere, around the time I was turning 30, and finally I did move. And this summer I might move to the Midwest, if things work out as planned. It's interesting to experience a different environment sometimes, a bit more enriching.

I've made several drastic moves across the US several times. I had to start from scratch each time but I made it work. It is hard, but it pays off. I think my mindset has completely changed because of these moves. I feel I have a greater appreciation for people who have come from different places, and have grown up differently than me. I lived in the same house since birth with my family until I was in my early 20s, then got the bug to move. I'm 30 now and have moved 3 times since then. I have good friends all over the country now that I can call on to help me when I need it. It does take guts to do something this drastic but I say go for it !!!
