Greetings all

Can any one help me understand the verse I have highlighted below. The context suggests the new kingdom established on earth. However, how can there be any other gods?

Micah chapter 4:

1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the L
ORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the L
ORD of hosts hath spoken it.

5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the L
ORD our God for ever and ever.

6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;

7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the L
ORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

In Christ,
Paul

Hello SBJ,

You are probably using the KJV. This is what the New KJV says.
4:5 For all people walk each in the name of his god, But we will walk in the name of the Lord our God Forever and ever. This gives a lot different meaning to the verse. The 1st part refers to the idols of pagan nations while the 2nd refers to the God of Israel.

Here is the translation from a Jewish Bible.

5. For all peoples shall go, each one in the name of his god, but we will go in the name of the Lord, our God, forever and ever.

It matches up with the newer translations.

Well, we know from verse 1 that the scripture is talking about the last days, or the end of the world as we know it. This is outlined in the Book of Revelations and the Book of, Daniel. Other scriptures speak of the last days, but these books were specifically written for the last days.

In Revelations, the John talks about a remnant of people, which is believed to be the woman who flees into the wilderness and is protected from Satan’s beast. I believe this is the remnant spoken of in Micah 4:7. The only other Christians that exist will either be part of the man-child that is birthed by the woman and is caught up unto the throne of God, or the “remnant of her seed that keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. It is presumed that the “remnant of her seed” are killed (martyred) because they are not protected, and there are other scriptures noting that many saints will be persecuted and killed.

I see the scriptures in Micah 4 testifying of the days after Jesus Christ returns and establishes his kingdom here on earth. We also read of this in Joel Chapter 2 in which the Lord speaks of the army of God on Mt. Zion- “As the morning spread upon the mountains”.

Thank you all for your responses. I thought it was speaking about the 1000-year reign of Christ and obviously people do follow after other gods at the end.

Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Praise the Lord that he does not let us be deceived and keeps us to the end. I always find it hard to believe that people still rebel against God even though he dwells with them in the flesh. However, it happened 2000 years ago so why would it be any different in the future. (I would be just like them without God's grace!)

In Christ,
Paul
