  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many understand that the Metonic Cycle is 19 years long and established certain leap year. But at the time of Christ, did the Jews really keep the Metonic Cycle. I understand that it was brought into the mix at a later time but some object and believe it was always used. The earliest accounts seem to indicate that a leap year occurred three times for every 8 years. If so, you could see that in 152 years, the metonic cycle would fall short by one leap year in that case. This should tell us that we should look for a conformance of the leap years to align such that 3 leap years always falls within the 8 year period. If not, then our criteria for appointing the leap years is probably flawed unless more relevant information can be brought forward to indicate further witness to an adherence to the metonic cycle the first century AD.
