And do you only want United Methodist Scholars or do you want those from the Wesleyan family of which UMC is only a part?

more interested in United Methodist than say Nazarene. Time period of Wesley to today, but prefer latest research. Subjects would be bible (for example commentaries) and theology.

Then my best suggestion would be to check out the professors at our United Methodist seminaries (and also those United Methodists at a few other seminaries like Asbury Theological Seminary, Drew, Eden, or Fuller) and see if anyone has published something you are familiar with. This is where your most current scholars are going to actually be employed.

In Bible I might recommend Craig Hill, Robert Mulholland, Scott McKnight, John C. Holbert, Bill T. Arnold, Joseph R. Dongell, Craig S. Keener, John Oswalt, Ruth Anne Reese, Lawson Stone.

In theology I might recommend Ben Witherington, William Willimon, Rachel Held Evans, Adam Hamilton, Mike Slaughter, Rueben Job, Diane Butler Bass, Karen Westerfield Tucker, Jennifer Woodrow Tait, Linda Mercadante, Jason E. Vickers, Kenneth J. Collins, William Coleman, Elaine Robinson, Amy Oden, William J. Abraham.

Me personally, I probably couldn't have added much more than just a couple of Free Methodist or Wesleyan professors from Asbury. Being UMC myself, I don't know many Wesleyan scholars outside of the UMC.

If the list is too big, I can pare it down if you tell me what criteria you want me to use for doing so. I could also add more to the list if you would prefer that as well.

The Nazarene ones that I am familiar with are: William Greathouse, Al Truesdale, Mildred Bangs Wynkoop, George Lyons, Thomas Oord, Diane LeClerc, H. Ray Dunning, H. Orton Wiley and former Nazarene turned United Methodist Randy Maddox. Those are the ones that come to mind quite quickly. The first three I mentioned are my absolute favorite and most influential in my life.

And then there is the online Wesley Journal of which the link is an example.

One of Randy Maddox's books is part of the required course for UMC Doctrine for the Advanced Course of Study from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the UMC.

In UMC polity I would recommend Thomas Edward Frank's book "Polity, Practice, and Mission of the United Methodist Church."
