The Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight. Meteors should start to be visible shortly after dusk. This year there might be more meteors than usual.

I hope if I post a science thread from time to time it is okay. I mean, we discuss such a wide range of topics here anyways so why not? I think it might be fun for those who are interested to try to observe the meteors and compare notes.

Even being in a suburb near a big cit I can still see a few meteors during the showers. Its great!

Being close to the city I don't think I would have seen much ...
But I forgot to look after my home group.

I don't know why I double-posted. I don't think my smart phone is buggy buggy. Well, I will try again tonight if it is clear. There might still be some meteor activity.

Maybe if anyone has any meteor stories to tell - not just with this meteor shower. I have seen some interesting meteors - once I saw one that seemed to explode and I swear I heard it. And not a meteor, but once I was lucky to see an old rocket/satellite burn up (I happened to see it and it was spectacular and lots of other people saw it and there was a news story about it the next day).

I happen to walk our about 2 am and seen a few meteors in a matter of 5 minutes.

I'm glad you were able to see something, even around city lights! I missed out because of clouds but I am happy you had a chance.
