I once heard somewhere about "cat demons," allegedly demons that often take on a catlike appearance or make the possessed take on a catlike appearance. :(
According to what I heard they also make people like cats very much. :(
Is this true or just a bit or "spiritual warfare folklore" that I have heard?

I heard a TV preacher talk about a woman that was possessed with a demon, and that she took on a cat like appearance. I thought it was creepy.

Can you get cat demons from owning cats or liking cats?

No, While there are Bilical examples of evil spirits inhabiting animals, you need to remeber that "greater is He who is in you, than he who is of the world."

Demons flee at the mention fo Jesus' name. If you say Jesus' in the vicinity of your cat and it doesn't take off then (if I were a betting man) I'd bet your kitty is OK. :)

You really needn't worry about this sort of thing. Have faith that God will protect you. I never commit too much time to pndering this sort of thing because I know that Jesus' is in my heart and any spiritual conflict I may endure, Jesus will always be triumphant.

In the Bible, when Jesus caused the demons to come out of the man and into the herd of pigs, the pigs immediately drowned themselves. I think if an animal was possessed with a demon, that animal would commit suicide.

God created cats, and God loves cats.:) They are his creation. I think the personality of cats are like a witness to us, in a way. Have you ever noticed the way a cat will bath in the sun and be in a state of total bliss? I think God desires us to be that way, to have that much peace in our hearts. That no matter what problems we may be going thru, we should not allow our problems to rob us of the peace that God has given to us.

I know, only a cat lover would say those things.:)

The ancient Egyptians used to worship either cats, or a cat-type god.

I like the story that God invented a companion for Man, something that would love Man unconditionally and ask only to be in the company of Man forever more. Since this is the way God feels towards all mankind, He named this companion a reverse of His name: "Dog."

And then, so Man would not become egotistical, overbearing, and miserable to put up with, God created Cat.

Auntie, I LOVED your description of Heavenly Bliss, as being the attitude of a cat taking a sun bath. That's wonderful!

And yes, it certainly is something that ONLY a Cat-Lover would say.

(I'm owned by four cats!)

Peace and catnip,

Hi VOW

It's as if God is saying: "When you reach THAT level of bliss, then you will know what heaven will be like." :)

I am also a dog lover, and yes, the unconditional love and total forgiveness that dogs bestowe on man, is certainly a witness from God, at least to me it is.:)

To Louis:

Oh, you mean the naming of "dog"? Perhaps. Next time I tell the story, I'll have Adam name "dog."

As someone who owns two STUPID dogs and IS OWNED by four very snotty cats, I have to testify as to the veracity of the original story, LOLOLOL!

Peace,

The idea that demons become cats is a mix-up from pre-Muslim middle eastern mythology. They believed that magicians could become other animals to spy on folks, to escape danger or to cause harm. Somehow, that idea changed to witches becoming cats, then, in the 20th century, it became demons turning into cats.

We have three cats - as far as I know they are "Christian" :)

None of them flee at the name of Jesus and even better, they like to sit with me when I'm reading my Bible and praying :)

I have trained one (a siamese) to give me a hug and a kiss. He insists that I take naps in the afternoon :)

My beautiful, petite, Himalayan is a snot - I can picture her using the Sally Field "Sassy" (Homeward Bound) voice saying "please don't muss my fur" when I pet her :D

Our third cat is my "grandkitty" - owned by my DD who is away at Mission school.

My opinion - cats are fun, affectionate, very clever and even obnoxious but not demons :)
