• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I want some mental tips and assurance, and I wish I could have the strength to just live and be a by standing participant of the world and Western civilization in it's collapsing stage. I know that from a scriptural POV, the world itself has been fallen for all but the brief weeks at the start of it's existence, but I also appreciate the beauty and history of its men and women.

I feel strongly like I was born in the wrong generation myself. The thing about the collapse today, is there seems to be no more hope or room for man to discover different.

I am also feeling like we have no meaningful free will to do stuff that we please, and God is only like a dictator who just uses his men and women only to further glorify his plan. God doesn't understand freedom in the classical libertarian sense. I get the feeling then that everything else is null and void. That is why I am ambivalent to have faith and I can relate to the story of the Prodigal son.

It's not existing in the current world itself that I hate, it is the state and trajectory it happens to be in right now.

You seem to describe the pre-conversion grey world view that many have before finding Jesus.

When He comes into your life the colours change and a path walking with Him is opened up.

Here is nothing that God does not understand.

Man's freedom to do anything that they want to do is the greatest bondage there is. True freedom is found in doing the will of God. This truth is something that most people do not understand until by faith they choose to obey God's will and begin to see how freeing it actually is and in how much bondage they were in, and how blind to that bondage they had been.

I know where you are getting with it, but couldn't there be a balance of the two concepts? Having the freedom to create a business and sell or give some form of service? Having the freedom to say whatever I want with only a few restrictions? That does not sound like bondage to me.

This mindset that everything explicitly within God is necessarily freedom while everything not explicitly under him or from the bible is necessarily bondage or a circumstance of being un-free somehow.

What I wrote earlier should have said, there is nothing that God does not understand.

Freedom that is not based in God's will is an illusion of freedom. It takes Christians often many years to figure out that the greatest freedom in life is found in doing God's will.

If a person wants their service to be fruitful and lasting it will have to be service that is in line with God's will. If a business is based on Christian values and a business that is in line with God's will for someone or a profession that is in line with God's will for someone it will be successful. As far as us saying whatever we want to say, God has a lot to say in his Word about keeping our words in check. What we have to say should be based in God's Truths and honoring to him.

All too often when someone talks about balance in practicality what it ends up manifesting itself as is I want to do things have my way and half God's Way, and that only gets you half, if that much, of the blessings of God.

The only tip I have for you is to back off all things political for a while. Stop watching the news, stop reading political posts for a while.

Then, get more involved with the people your around every day - and ditch the online stuff for a bit. Go outside, take walks, find a state park, take some pictures. Go fishing, etc. Just get outside if you're able.

All of the above helps to reset from the negative, and stops the feeling that everything is falling apart. You'll start feeling happy and whole again in no time.

After that, minimize your involvement in the political stuff and stop and reset again whenever all the negative starts taking over your mind.

CARL Emerson told you correctly.
God is God , and not a man as you describe someone who is less than God. God reveals truth to us, we do not ask God to share our philosophical, misguided views, do we?

Don’t give up trying to be like Jesus. It will happen, you have freedom from the consequences of sin. Choose wisely who you follow. What would you really do without Jesus in your heart. It’s your flesh that is nagging you do your own thing. I know I can’t kick Jesus out even a little bit. I keep trying to please him or I live in repentance.

It amazes me sometimes that people seem to think this is the worst of times. Can you even imagine living in the middle ages?
God isn't done with us. I agree with walking around in nature and also in meeting real people. Most Americans I've met restore my faith in humanity. Sometimes watching the news and social media can make the world look worse than it is.
