  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Up until a few years ago I would have answered no, but I have been dealing with depression for at least 6 or 7 years. Mine is not severe case, but it's enough for my doctor to put me on Prozac. In my case I just feel really down at times and lack motivation at times. It could be a lot worse.

Anxiety and depression, both in high school. Severe enough to cause extremely violent* panic attacks, have the school essentially force my parents to take me to psychologists three times over the course of three years, put on Paxil for most of 2002 (straddled sophomore and junior year), and all of this amplified by pre-existing issues with self-esteem and self-loathing that had been going on since middle school. Not to mention that the Paxil dosage was too high at first, causing me to not be able to stay awake in class - this ultimately led to me failing a few courses and getting booted out of IB, that honestly still stings a little, since I was doing well in Trigonometry, and by the time the dosage was adjusted, I'd lost an entire month and couldn't hope to dig my way back out of that hole.

Since graduating, I've levelled out by a massive amount. I still have lingering anxiety at times, especially when dealing with the idea of trying to reconnect with everyone from back then, and one time right before having my wisdom teeth extracted: the doctor's office recommended I take a diazepam after I had the panic attack at home and my mom asked them about it. Ended up that I only needed it right before we left the house the day of the surgery. I actually just took half of the pill and my legs gave out and I had to be helped out to the car.

*the attacks were violent, it didn't cause me to be violent. Several times when it happened, the school had to call paramedics because my joints were completely locked. A couple of other times it was paired with what was essentially a total emotional meltdown.

I voted "other" , because although I've experienced both depression and anxiety, from mid teens to early adulthood there were specific times I don't think can be described as something other than insanity. I mean that literally - losing my mind as a result of the regular use of hallucinogenic drugs to escape reality and being extremely self willed and rebellious.

Definitely bouts of depression. I've been doing good for the last year, but off and on the last couple of years I'd have off and on depression where I'd be fine, and then all of a sudden something would trigger it and I'd be depressed for days, weeks, months until something pulls be back out of it.
