hi there DesireaMaria

This anabaptist forum covers the gamut of anabaptist groups and also includes those pesky Quaker Friends ;)

So mennonite (liberal to conservative), mennonite brethren, brethren in Christ, church of the brethren, hutterite, whatever sorta falls in.

Are you Canadian by chance? I hear more about the Canadian mennonite brethren over at www.mennodiscuss.com than I do around here.

I was raised in a Mennonite Brethren church, and now belong to a Friends church. I would say the Mennonite Brethren tend to be closer to Baptists and other Evangelicals on the denominational spectrum than most other Anabaptist denominations.

MBs have never dressed "plain." Only about half (maybe less by now) believe in the peace witness, but it is retained as part of their doctrinal statements in consideration of their history and of those who are still conscientious objectors.

MBs are quite Evangelical, sometimes even tending to be fundamentalist. However, they maintain an Anabaptist polity, which is less independent than Baptists would be. A growing number of MB congregations that lean more to traditional Anabaptist theology and practice associate with both the MB and the Mennonite Church USA (or Canada).

Does this help?

What college are you looking at? I have some familiarity with Tabor in Kansas and Fresno Pacific.
