  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Came across an early review of Mel Gibson's latest, Apocalypto. For sure, anything he does is going to be controversial. This is an allegory about the ancient Mayans, just before Columbus. His premise is that our society is in decline, just like theirs was. (I strongly disagree.)

It was an unfinalized and unfinished print that was shown, but the review is quite complimentary. It does mention that the film is intensely and graphically violent, with scenes of human sacrifice. Even calls it "sadistic." (What is it will Mel and explicit violence? Can't he make a movie without it being a gorefest?) Mel obviously has talent as a filmaker, but he has to overcome all his personal demons and some pretty crackpot ideas.

The review was interesting. The final version may have some changes. I know there's no way my wife will see it, so I'll probably pass on it also.

I saw the trailer for it yesterday at the theater. I think I'm gonna have to pass on this one myself, too. It just seems a little too idolatrous after The Passion of the Christ.

I won't be seeing it, I can't stomach the level of gore Gibson indulges in, Passion was nauseating. (That's not a knock on the quality of film making involved, I just don't care for the graphic violence)

Never was my cup of tea.Only thing I liked with him was What Women Want.
