I am asking because we have duplos, but one of our toys made by mega blocks has been recalled and we have to choose a replacement toy

In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
mega blocks and duplos.... compatible?

I you're asking are they physically compatible ie can you stack one on another, then no. At least the duplo and mega blocks we have here in Aus are really different shapes, yours may be different to ours (but I don't think so).
If you're asking if you could have both in your home, then I'd say yes. Children will often use different blocks for different purposes.
Having said all that (and I know this is somewhat off topic
) I prefer mega blocks. Here you get more for your money than duplo, and the people and vehicles etc that go with them are really nice. Our children love them!

Sparassidae is right. Our Austrlian ones don't interlock. The Mega blocks are a lot larger.
Personally I prefer Duplo because it can be used with Lego peices when the children are older. Mega blocks can only be used with Mega blocks. There is also a wider range and variety of Duplo.

We happen to have both the sets you link. The short answer is they are mostly compatible. Mega Blocks are definitely lower quality than duplos, and sometimes the fit is either too loose or too tight.
If you're still curious, I can pull some pieces out from both sets and snap them together and upload a picture.
