• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi;
I have religeous OCD, as well as other health problems. My question is how do you go about meeting other single christian people with OCD, specially ones that have anxiety and can't socialize with others in a normal way like myself(I have anxieties as well). Curious about opinions.Thank you and God bless you.

Hi Frank,

Hi;

Right here!

I am sure you are referring to an actual ability to be with people that struggle in this way or related ways.

The truth is, the church is full of people struggling with _______ (you name it). In church, I've met people who are depressed, obsessive-compulsive, anxious, addicted, recovering from addiction, wounded, dying, grieving, guilty, divorced, separated, stressed, panicked, suicidal, homeless, retarded, lonely, orphaned, widowed, etc. I didn't realize this, however, until I melted down and reached out. Then, I was surprised by how "human" the people around me, who all seemed to have it together, were.

I would suggest from a practical standpoint you get into a "lifestage" (e.g., single young adults) group at a church. Don't wait until you "have it all together," to jump in because if you are real, this day will never come. However, in a healthy and honest group gathered together with the common bond of brokenness and a desire for Jesus, you will "carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." [Galations 6:2]

I have one brother in Christ I can meet with who has OCD and with whom I discuss these things, but his ocd is a bit different anyway. The more I meet the general population, the more I realize we all struggle. The specifics of the struggle become less important.

May God bless you as you continue to seek fellowship.

Do you mean local Christians with OCD? I would like to know that myself. I imagine that you could search online in your community.

I know that in my weekend newspaper under the "Religion" section it has a list of support group meetings. that's one area to look into. Otherwise, like Marc said, we can chat with one another right here.
