  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One of the arguments that have been used to explain why apparitons should not be accepted as "gospel" or any other form of truth goes something like this:

After the final apostle (or other eyewitness) to Christ had died, no-one could be certain of what Christ or Mary looked like, nor of any of the Apostles. How, then, can we be sure that what we are not seeing isn't in some way a demonic appearance? The devil, to get his message across, has to coat it in something digestible. What better way to draw people away from the truth than to start with the truth and then lead them astray?

I have a very difficult time accepting any appartions. Even the ones that I can see no harm from (i.e., St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy Message).

Good points Father....BUT....we are told in Scripture "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world."--1 John 4

Now, I maybe taking this out of context but to me this just shows that we will be visited by spirits. There's an obvious warning against the false prophets but it also implies we could be visited by messengers of God.

But I am with you in that some apparitions could be of the devil. Who did Mohammed see? Who did Joseph Smith see? God bless you.

IMHO, Joseph Smith was probably looking into a mirror. ;)

What, basically, are the RESULTS of Medujorje? I know two people who made a pilgrimage there, and the outcome was a massive increase in faith. In the Bible, Mary points others towards her Son. If the fruit of any apparition is to point people towards Christ, then I see no harm.

Peace be with you,

Well,

I went to the site KC (way to go man!) provided me and it was interesting.  Here's a message that I really liked:

Therefore, put little newborn Jesus in the first place in your life and He will lead you on the way of salvation."--taken from the December 25th, 1999 message.

Pretty good message.....

I live near Nashville, and was pleased to hear that one of the visionaries would be speaking at a local church not far from my apartment.

After arriving, I must admit I got a funny vibe. The Virgin supposedly appears to him every day at the same time, which on that day happened to be right before his speaking appearance, and in the sanctuary in front of a packed house, no less. During his ecstatic state, he asked the congregation to hold up their religious items where the Virgin could bless them. Although the message sounded great, the circumstances really turned me off.

I asked a friend of mine for some background before I went, and he gave me a list of quotes from the visionaries, one of which denied the Immaculate Conception, and the authority of the Pope, I believe. I'll get that list and bring them over here if I can locate them on the CIN board. Let's all keep praying about it. I don't want to be one to dismiss a miracle, but I just don't know...
