Some folks on this forum want you to believe that Jesus never said that he was God. Some even want you to believe that Christ was just a god, a human representative of God, or an "ascended master," meaning a human who became so enlightened that he developed god-like qualities. But none of that's true.
Here are some quotes from Jesus in which he plainly and outrightly says he is God:
"If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me?
John 14:7-10 New King James
Clearly, Jesus said that looking at him IS looking at the Father, he and the Father are the same person, the same being.
Another:
Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM ." John 8:58
Compare that to Exodus, the name that God called himself, And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " Exodus 3:14.
Jesus called himself by the sacred name of God, saying that he was God. That's why the pharaisees wanted to kill him, because he blasphemed by calling himself God!
I and My Father are one." Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?" The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God ." John 10:30-33
There is no doubt that Jesus told us that he is God. There is no doubt that the people who heard him understood that he was saying he is God. There is no way to think that Jesus said he was A god. It is clear that he said he IS THE God.
