What does everyone do if the doc asks u to take meds during lunchtime. I mean its kinda of embarrassing to pull out a pill box while were all eating lunch at work. And if I go to the bathroom each day after digging through my purse wont they say hey whats up with her?! Just wondering what everyone else is doing?

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most people at my work know I am Bipolar so I just leave my pill box on my desk. If you need to be discreet you can put your lunch meds in a smal zip lock in your pocket. Then find a time after lunch. What line of work are you in?

ok, thats an idea. I am in a professional position where my boss knows, but i'm not sure how supportive other staff would be. Thanks for the idea though.

Don't hide who you are. Assuming you're an awesome person, be proud of who you are, and don't worry what anyone thinks if they do find out you are Bipolar. If you were a diabetic, and had to take pills for that during the day, would you hide it? Don't be ashamed to be Bipolar...some of the most genius, and creative talent in the world suffers from some form of mood disorder. I have told many of my co-workers before that I am Bipolar, if the conversation somehow led in to that. I found it helps most of them understand me better, and most people that find out aren't surprised anyways.

Trust me on this: Nobody is watching. Secondly, if somebody does notice, they aren't going to question it. Many people take medication. Thirdly, if someone does question you, in the workplace it is inappropriate to question someone based on their health, religion, family situation, or any other topic that does not concern them or the job.
Find a line you are comfortable with. eg "I'm sorry, were you asking about my personal life?" and plan to use that one-liner if the situation arises. ....which it won't.

I would just put them in something and put them in my pocket and then go to the bathroom to take them . It is very comman to go to the bathroon after lunch before going back to work so I don't think anyone would think anything of it . Just put them in your pocket before going to work and no one will know .
