• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Perhaps God can heal you by way of medication. I was on the verge of a mental breakdown thanks to OCD before I went on medication. It hasn't been a wonder cure yet, but we're still making adjustments to find the right meds. But I can tell you that I am functioning much better. It's not a cop out, and it's not denying your faith.

Might be a bit off topic for this but I depend on meds for my bipolar daily.
Many people depend on meds daily and feel it is perfectly normal to take them.
Others may feel they are not necessary and an abomination.

I would advise this tho.
If you are on meds, Continue to take them as your Dr states.
There is a reason they were prescribed.

I'm really confused on if I should get medicine for my OCD, I'll find some websites that say that you should wait on God to heal you and I have prayed and prayed he would. I would kind of feel like I'm cheating myself or only covering soemthing up if I went to the doctor. Any suggestions?

Would you tell a friend to stop taking her meds for diabetes, and just wait to be healed? It's the same thing for OCD. It's one of my biggest pet peeves that folks who have never struggled with OCD, recommend other Christians to stop treating their illness.

God uses many different ways to heal us. Our body is a temple and we need to take care of it. Our brain is part of our body.

May God ease your mind that He will always love and care for you. :)
