Maynard Ferguson?

Anyone like him? I see him every year in Seattle, WA, USA. He's 76 and still plays great!

I enjoy his music. I have to take it in doses though b/c I get really bored of every song b/c its esentially " how high can he play this time?" . Thats just my opinion.

I have a drummer friend named Lou Santiago Jr. who played drums for Maynard on tour a couple of years back.

I heard that Maynard was going to the Southern Tip of Texas to Kingsville, where he is going to perform at a Jazz festival at the TExas A&M University in Kingsville. I don't know if that is a rumor but our jazz band is planning on attending that festival.

I'll be seeing MF in Oklahoma (Muskogee) next Thurs night. It's about a 4 hr drive, but it's worth it!

Yes, there is a level of 'how high can he play' to his music, but there are numbers where he plays a very nice 'mid range' as well. It's great to see someone who's been on the road as long as he has still putting on a high energy show, and attracting new people to his music & to jazz in general.

I first saw him in Symphony Hall, Boston in 1959. Seen him about 8 times since.
