Thread: A Soul for A Secret
Name: Maura Rimedur
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Height: 5'6''
Weight: 126
Occupation: N/A
Appearance: Maura holds the perfect picture of innocence and beauty. She wouldn't be considered undeniably gorgeous, but she has been known to catch second glances in many occasions. Her thick hair is a fiery red, woven in tight curls cascading to her lower back. Shorter tendrils frame her face at her chin and she tends to have a few of the strands draping over her shoulders. Her eyes are round, bright green with the constant glint of playfulness. Her lips are full, her nose petite, and her eyebrows thin. A few light freckles dot her shoulders as well as nose and upper cheeks. In her left ear she wears the family crest of the Rimedurs -- a tiger's head with a sapphire jewel in the center. Other than that, the only other jewelry she'll wear on a daily basis is the traditional gold bangles worn by the Glahndurian women on her right wrist and ankles of her feet. On some days she'll wear flowers in her hair or a decorated comb or headband, but she always has a few strands of her hair on the back of her head pulled up and pinned in a red velvet cloth, the sign among her people that she is unmarried and clean.
Personality: Maura can see very little wrong in people as she is quite trusting, ready and willing to welcome anyone as long as they haven't given any reason for her to doubt. Laughter comes easily for her, and she loves to joke and tease. She is highly energetic but not overly hyperactive, knowing when to be calm and serious if the circumstance permits. Sarcasm and wit fuel her mind though she's careful to think before speaking. Despite the fact she has been brought up in wealth and power, Maura is humble and never rubs her fortune in others' faces. She doesn't mind getting dirty and enjoys trying new things, learning and growing as she does. Often than not she jumps into situations without thinking it through, so reliant on her emotions instead of logic.
Background: Maura was born as one of the youngest out of eleven other children to Lady Shylah and Lord Weylin. She has lived in the exotic country of Glahndur all of her life, only having the descriptions in books to tell her what the outside world looked like. Growing up in the palace among so many others wasn't the easiest thing to do. She did, however, cling to her older brother, Asher, as he was the closest to her age. They became extremely close almost immediately and Maura thrived on Asher's beliefs in their culture, disagreeing with it completely.
When she was thirteen, she woke to the horrifying truth that Asher had disappeared. Although she waited around for many months, he never came home. She didn't give up but she couldn't wait around forever, so instead she applied Asher's philosophies to her own life, striving to live the way he would have wanted her to live. This struggle became highly important when she turned twenty, the coming of age for women of Glahndur when they would leave their childhood and advance into womanhood. Advance into marriage. Maura refused any offers from men as Asher had believed marriage should be based around love not comfort. So to calm the loneliness she felt, Maura focused her attention on practicing Shen, the fighting ability of the desert dwellers that used the art of dance, agility, and the bo staff to bring its enemies to their knees. She also spent time with her many nieces and nephews, played the harp, learned to paint, and escaped for a few hours during the day to nature.
