I have started to read these Gospels for a Bible study; I am to be looking for the direct commands?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The only way you can tell what are direct commands is to look for the Greek imperative mood because the imperative mood is not always apparent in the English. You might try www.blueletterbible.org

The best way to read your study is to keep a few things in mind. Now some may disagree with me, but I have been around 60 years so listen.
Matt. was written to the Jews mainly about Jesus being their KING.
Mark was written mostly to the romans about the servent Christ.
Luke (a Doctor) Wrote with the theam of God/Man of christ. Luke wrote on the phyical part of christ.
John wrote about Christ being God and spoke to the whole world.
Remember that the church is not in the gospels. The 12 did not understand many of the words Jesus spoke because they had a mind set on the old testament.
The church did not begin until Acts 2.
