In Matthew 8:29 Yeshua is depicted by demons as being a torturer. In other bible translations He is considered a tormentor of demons. How does this make you feel knowing that the Lamb of G-d is also a torturer of those who do evil. What are your opinions on this?
Hey Nick! It is not about being a torturer to those who do evil. You cannot compare a human being to a demon, two different species for one. Humans always have a chance to repent, to turn back to G-d. I believe that demons had their chance and they shrugged it off.
As Visionary said, it is about being in the presence of holiness. They know what will happen in the end. He did not torture them however but allowed them to choose where they wanted to be sent. He was releasing that man from their torture, yet he listened to them when they asked to go into the swine.
The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us
before the appointed time?"
32 He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.
The word used also means to torment, also in respect to describing the waves breaking on the sand. Basically like an interrogation, in court what we might call , badgering the witness.
Also notice they ask has he come before the appointed time to do this? They know they will have to answer for what they have chosen to do and that he will be the interrogator, judge and jury. They were just scared because they didn't think that time had come yet.
