  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I haven't been a Christian for a very long time, and I find it hard to understand these two verses, are they literal or a hyperbole?:

"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell."

They are literal - if you have something going on within your life that is not conducive to your following Christ you need to change - even if such change may mean you have to cut up your credit card.

Hi Martin,

Matthew 5:29 preceeding verse Matt 5:27 should give you a clear idea what Christ talking about. Christ bringing the Full Glory / Holiness & GOD's Standard of the Law versus that from the Scribes/ Pharisees & in today's context- Christians who are not Born with the Spirit of Sonship to Reign LIterally in every sense of that word in this life but of the Spirit of Bondage to FEAR

However one must also put into consideration whom the Author was, who it was directed & why it was written. Gospel of Matthew was written specifically to the Jews who kept harping on the 10 Commandments & Lowering the Standard to 'Attainable/Achivable' hence demeaning the Full Glory of the 10 Commandments as it wasn't meant to Justify men but to show men how Impossible to attain Holiness via one self works versus the Sacrifice of Christ which cost us Nothing but Cost GOD the Daddy everything & Christ also, just that we could recieve Unmerited / Unearned/ Underserved Full Free Flowing Favors from GOD the Daddy not from our works but by HIS GRACE ;)

You Might also like to know that:-

Gospel of Matthew Protrays Christ as the Promised King hence Christ Genealogy are traced back to king david whom the Promised Hebrew KING would come.

It is also the Picture of the Lion0 Lion of Judea

Gospel of Mark protrays Christ as the PERFECT Last GOD men hence His Genealogy traced back all the way to Adam- Adam was the 1st men who sinned hence the world was cursed but Christ came as the Perfect GOD Men hence to Redeem us from the Curses.

It is the Picture of the Man, the Perfect Strong Man.

Gospel of Luke Protrays Christ as the SERVANT hence there's No Genealogy which you'll never ask the Servant His Pedigree & you'll commonly find Luke's Account of Christ like :- Immediately he did this or Immediately ....... which a servant would do IMMEDIATELY

It is also the Picture of an OX a Labouring OX that is tirelessly working day & night

Gospel of John protrays Christ as GOD & there's also No Genealogy as GOD has No Genealogy for HE isn't the Created but THE CREATOR.

He is the Picture of the Eagle that soar High & Mighty which speaks of GOD.

Shalom
