Matthew 4 part 2
12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee.
The relationship between John and Jesus is fascinating. They knew each other before they where born.
Luke 1:Luke 1:41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus could have got him out of prison or saved him from having his head on a platter. Jesus and John show us many things but the greatest is our lives are not about how old we get ,what we have in this world or what the world does to us . Our lives is about purpose and God's purpose not ours we do not want what satan offered Jesus in Matthew 4.
Jesus knew they would see each other again in a better place...
Matthew 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The whole cave rescue right reminds us of darkness , physical and Spiritual. The pictures of those mothers praying to those statues, is a darkness worse than being in a cave with no light. We use to go caving and I was injured once when I turned my light off to feel the darkness and tried to walk. There is a darkness you can feel and caves can give you that experience.
Exodus 10:21 21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.”
The story of Moses and Pharaoh I have shared many times because the Lord placed on my heart it is very relevant for each generation but especially in the end days...
That darkness was the last miracle and sign God showed in Exodus before the death of the children, and yes God called those things His signs and wonders.
Exodus 3:20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go. Exodus 7:3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
God's signs and wonders I am sure we are like Pharaoh and do not understand what those are anymore.
Matthew 4:17 shows us Jesus' first message “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
The first time God talks about people repenting is in Exodus 13, how funny the ties of Matthew and Exodus have , but that is why every word of God is what we live by as Jesus told us in Matthew 4...
Those boys have been in that cave many times . For any of us to not see the signs and wonders as God calls them , is to be Pharaoh in Exodus 14 and be swallowed by the sea of darkness...
God allowed John his life and death, God allowed the life and death of Jesus. When we make God anything other than the God in the Bible , we might as well rub the belly of a statute...
We are in perilous times and like Pharaoh that did not understand, many are in his army today. When we are fighting as a church about what gender God is, we need to listen to Jesus's first message and repent. Repent is what the Mariners did with Jonah, it was a storm that caused that and people turned from their little gods.
Repent is what the King and city of Nineveh did together, it was a message from a man they knew God had a large fish spit out , that caused that. God is not what we call normal or natural , He is this , Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
Know, that He is sending us His signs and wonders and we can either walk through the Red Sea with Moses or be swallowed up with Pharaoh. Matthew 4 tells us the people in darkness saw the Great Light , pray that those in dark caves , the first light they see, is The Great Light in verse 16...
