What a lot of information in one chapter I will have break down into several parts.
Verse 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
This is a time Jesus faced the total extremes for us, no greater Love. I did not grow up fasting but God taught me about it much later in life. It is an amazing thing , the longest I ever went was 3 days and I was never hungry.
Why did God create wonderful food but ask us to fast? Just like everything , to remind us Who created everything. Food can be a comfort or an addiction and He knew this, He is truly amazing...
Not just food , but anything we seek to fill our body, souls and Spirits with other than Him , is weakness that satan uses.
Verse 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Every word of God …
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
When we ever go outside the Word of God for answers , we end up in the first verses of 2 Timothy 3.
The church was to always have those as in Acts 17, to search Scriptures daily , to have no other books , no other guides , no other manuals.
2 Corinthians 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
They where warned in Corinthians and we are to have that same warning. When our churches are divided over anything about what God said , then we did not follow Proverbs 30:5, 2 Timothy 3:16 or Acts 17:11.
When we are divided on Scriptures and go off and plant and eat from our own trees , then we are still listening to satan in the Garden that said “And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said.”
From Genesis 1 to the last page of Scriptures was our food for life , every generation ...
