Matthew 24:7 uses an interesting greek word #1453 and this particular form of it is only used 7 times in the NT. It appears to be a form of "waking up and standing" according to a lexicon.

This word is last used in Revelation 11:1.

Matt 24:7 "For shall be being roused/egerqhsetai <1453> (5701) nation upon nation, and kingdom upon kingdom. And shall be famines and *pestilences and quaking/disturbances according to places. [Mark 13:8, Luke 21:10]

Matt 12:42 `A Queen of the south shall be being aroused/egerqhsetai <1453> (5701) in the judging with the generation, this, and shall be condemning her. That she came out of the ends of the land to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and lo, more of Solomon here!

Revelation 11:1 And was given to me a reed like a rod saying, "be thou rousing/egeirai <1453> (5669)! and measure! the sanctuary of God and the altar and those worshipping in him

egerqhsetai <1453> (5701) This form of the greek word used 7 times in NT out of 144 times it is found.

1453. egeiro eg-i'-ro probably akin to the base of 58 (through the idea of collecting one's faculties); to waken (transitively or intransitively), i.e. rouse (literally, from sleep, from sitting or lying, from disease, from death; or figuratively, from obscurity, inactivity, ruins, nonexistence):--awake, lift (up), raise (again, up), rear up, (a-)rise (again, up), stand, take up.

Famine is used 12 times in the NC, the last time in Revelation 18:8, with this particular form of it in Matt 24:7 used only in Mark 13:8 and Luke 21:11, again tying this in to Revelation it seems.

It is also fairly close to the word used for "lake", which is only used in Luke and Revelation.

Matt 24:7 "For shall be being roused nation upon nation, and kingdom upon kingdom. And shall be famines/limoi <3042> and pestilences and quaking according to places. [Mark 13:8, Luke 21:10]

Reve 18:8 by this, in one Day shall be arriving the blows of her, death and sorrow and famine/limoV <3042>; and in fire she shall be being burned down, that strong Lord, the God, the one judging her [also used in Reve 6:8]

3042. limos lee-mos' probably from 3007 (through the idea of destitution); a scarcity of food:--dearth, famine, hunger.
3041. limne lim'-nay probably from 3040 (through the idea of nearness of shore); a pond (large or small):--lake.
