Matthew 10

[Drought of the Heart]

Matthew 10 a chapter with at least a month of messages in it.



Jesus calls His 12 and in verse 1 gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.



He sends them out with a long list of instructions, to go to the ones that believe in God , knows the Scriptures but not Him. The ones that did not see Jesus in every Book of the Bible . This chapter is full of information and warnings for every generation. Jesus sends them out with nothing but His Spirit.



Verse 14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.



His first warning and a strong one.



Verse 22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

He tells them all the terrible things that will happen for following Him and His introductions.



27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

Jesus gives us what to speak , Moses is our example to not forget that.



Verse 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

The hardest place to be a follower of Jesus is in our birth families and it holds true.



Verse 42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.



We do not want to lose our reward, and notice it is not plural...Please read this chapter over and over line by line. It is as important to us as it was to the 12. It is those that think they know everything that is the hardest to reach and teach...



It is all about God and not our agendas , our thinking , our ways, those did not, do not and will not matter.



Those 12 are our example that there is only One Teacher , One Book of Instructions, One reason we gather and go out...

Matthew 10 is a good chapter. The people Jesus met had not memorized the Bible as they did not have the New Testament yet and many of them were illiterate and could not read the Law and the Prophets. They needed someone literate to read to them in the synagogue.

The Jews were taught the law, prophets and other Septuagint writings. That is not the same as Jesus teaching people to love their enemies.
Matthew 5:44 (WEB) But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.

Some Jews thought the Bible taught them they were supposed to smite their enemies, not love them. It is not easy to love someone who wants to harm you.
