  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come."

What is the "Son of man be come" speaking about? Does it speak of the 2nd coming?
Some believe this is a referance to Pentecost and the beginning of the Church and the Age of Grace. Although this is the Holy Spirit Dispensation, so I am not so sure.

In Matt 24 Jesus tells his followers all the things that would happen over the next forty years - which we know from hindsight. He was telling them about the destruction of the nation of Israel, the city of Jerusalem, and the Temple. Then he says that immediately after the tribulation of those days he would come again. But then he makes a strange statement, which seems paradoxical. He said that he didn't really know when he was coming back. How do you rationalize these two statements? You have to you know.

He was simply telling his followers of the EARLIEST time that he could return. We know today that the second coming has been delayed for almost two thousand years now one day at a time – as far as we are concerned. And a good thing it was or we would not exist today as time would have ceased in 70AD..

This is what all of his Disciples and followers including Paul believed - they never expected time to continue past the destruction and tribulation of those days in 70AD. God gave the Disciples - et al - forty years (from the cross to the destruction an 70AD to evangelize both the cities of Israel and also the gentiles.) And so the full number of the gentiles had come in by 70AD.

The great majority of OT prophesy was fulfilled by 70 AD. The very last prophesy of Danial was fulfilled just after the surrender of the Zealots on the 13th of AB 70 AD.

I am a futurist and believe that there will be a future great tribulation. But I believe that Matt 10:23 in its literal sense refers to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD. Matt 24 also in its literal sense refers to that event. But there is a typological reference in which we can see a prophecy about the future tribulation.
