Maternity clothes are so expensive!

Yes they are . .. . I got mine in the sales though so it wasn't too bad. But still, it cost me £12 for a maternity bra and £10 for a pack of 5 maternity knickers.

They know they've Got you, so they charge more. I shopped sales, spent a lot of time looking online and shopped Those sales, got a few things at Target (which surprised me, but they held up well!), Motherhood Maternity doesn't charge as much, but their quality isn't that great... so I only bought a few things from them and hand-washed & hung them to dry to make them last longer. I spent more for some basics (that I used through several pregnancies) too.

I also knew other pregnant moms who would convert their regular clothes into things they could wear while pregnant. I didn't like that idea for myself, 'cause then I wouldn't have anything to wear once I had the baby & lost the weight. lol

I've tried that. It worked fine to begin with but now they don't look "right" on me. I've been looking online but it's just too expensive to justify buying - especially by the time you pay shipping. I found some capri pants for $13 and a top for $6 so I was going to buy that online and it cost $10 shipping to ship those two items! I know for a fact they could ship them for $4.05 Priority Mail. I felt like they were ripping me off on the shipping.

Oh I totally agree with you. They explain it as including "handling charges" which include the box or mailer they send it to you in also. Oh well. Once again, they've Got you.

Where I live there isn't much choice for maternity wear, so I bit the bullet and bought online (and before the internet I mail ordered). I figured I was worth it. LOL

So far my mom has been buying mine from the thrift stores. Very cute clothes.

I haven't bothered looking yet, I have some stretchy pants that should get me through for awhile, especially since I'm not showing yet.

I plan starting now with cleanance shopping, hit the maternity section of each shop, eventually something will turn up cheap.

That's the thing - I can't find any shops with Maternity around here! GRRRRR! In my town we only have W-Mart. I went to the next town over yesterday and the only store that had them was an outlet store so I go a few things that I'm pleased with and a few that I'm not really crazy about. I went to JCPenney, Goodys, etc. and those stores do not stock maternity. I know JCP does in some stores but not in this one! GRRRRRR!!!!! Maybe I've got enough for now. I'll have to see.

I got some maternity clothes on Ebay and the rest, I got from my MIL, it's actually dresses that she wore when she was overweight and now she lost weight and doesn't wear them but they fit perfectly with my big belly.
