  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello! I've not posted very much/for a while on here, but I hope to rectify that!

I was just wondering which Mass settings you use at your churches. There seem to be a great many. One of the churches where I play the organ uses the New English Mass by Patrick Appleford, which I'm not terribly keen on. Another one I play at, which is RC, uses a variety of items from different settings, including the Gathering Mass by Paul Inwood. The service music at that church is all of my choosing though!

We ought to seriously chat Mass settings on this thread! :liturgy: :)

One of the oddities of this site is that there is no forum for church organists. There are forums for all kinds of other instruments and instrumentalists, leaving one to think that all church music today is contemporary Christian music in Protestant churches.

My first reaction was that you might want to have your thread in the OBOB forum, but I don't think you will find many posters there who will respond. Likewise, I think your response rate here will be very limited.

Previously, I concluded that there must be some web sites for church organists. You might want to look into that possibility if you can't get much discussion going here. As for myself, my experience as a church organist was extremely limited to the summer of 1973 in a very tiny Lutheran church.
