I would like to know what your view is on who is more "higher up". Mary (the mother of Jesus) or Jesus. I have talked to a Catholic and he basically said that Jesus was a good person to look up to but made it sound as if Jesus was not extremely special like other Protestant religions believe.

Catholics believe Mary (the mother of Jesus) is in Heaven correct? Or what do you all believe?

There is no comparison. Jesus is God incarnate who redeemed mankind and Mary is a created being redeemed by her Son. She is in heaven, yes.

Dittos to the above. Mary is blessed among women, and blessed is the fruit of her womb, Jesus. There is no need to rank the two. Mary is our Mother and our Queen, but she is not God. Christ is the only one who has walked in the flesh who can claim that title.

yes mary is in heaven, along with Jesus, and all the other saints. Mary is not against Jesus or vice versa. there is no competition. Mary is not as "high" up as Jesus either, she is a created being, not savior.

I agree with this ~ I feel an equal connection to Jesus and Mary ... :)

Who is of a higher order, the Creator or the created, the Potter or the pot?

Catholicism is a very richly developed faith system.

But in this feast, Jesus is still the meat and potatoes, the Lamb and the Bread, and theWine, too.
and Mary, whe is that chocolate mint and sip of cognac after the meal that makes the feast a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Our Lord and God above all, humbled Himself to be born of human flesh.
He is infinaite beyound all he is the creator He is God

Mary the humble virgian gave her self completly to God and submited herself to Him. In return from the momemnt of conception she was completly with out sin and full of grace so that she could be worthy to bear and raise such a son.

The Trinity is infinity greater then Mary
Mary is infifinity greater then all the Saints and Angels combined by the gifts of grace that our Lord has bestoed upon her, and her infintie merits.
Next in the ranking of Saints comes St. Joseph

Jesus has much more power than Mary. If I were to make a... grilled cheese sandwich right now, then would I be more powerful than the grilled cheese? Would I be more important? Of course.
If for some bizzare reason I had to choose her or Jesus, I would pick Jesus.
And I am sure she would understand. :)

In the order of the most powerful beings in the cosmos, I would say: The Father comes first, the Holy Spirit comes second, Jesus comes third, Mary comes fouth.

How can your rank Saints? What does a person have to do to become a Saint?

How do you know mary is in Heaven? The Bible does not once say that she is. Do you go by something besides the Bible?

By saing "Mary vs. Jesus" I was not meaning that they were against eachother. I was speaking in relation to ranks.

The bible dosn't tell us any of the apostles or Mary is dead either but we accept that as facts.
Tradition and common sense tells us Mary is in heaven, for she was sinless.

Our Lord and God would never for a moment handle his mother over to the controll of the devil.

She is the mother of Christ. Scripture says that all generations will call her blessed. She wouldn't be very blessed if she weren't in heaven, would she? I'm not going to get into all the OT prefiguring and prophetical images of the mother of the King. Did you know that back then the King's wife was not the Queen, that that title belonged to his mother? ;)

So your saying that she would have either gone to Hell or heaven and since she is sinless she is going to heaven? You don't beleive that people die?

Blessed. Your statment depends on the definition that the origional language uses for that word because there are multiple definitions for that word in english. I am not very knowledgable about the origional language stuff yet so I am not going to debate about it yet.

Oh my gosh! What a question! Jesus is God, Mary is simply a fellow mortal--the woman specially chosen to bear Him (and so she is important to the extent of having to be made sinless to honor and carry Our Lord, but definitely is NOT God).

As to "how do we know if she is in heaven?" Well, how do you know she is NOT? As far as the Bible not mentioning, have you not read John's vision in Revelation--Revelation 12? It's interesting that Revelation 12:5 speaks of the child she is carrying as ruling all nations with a rod of iron (a messianic prophecy so her child is...the Messiah, who is....?) BTW do you think a loving son would neglect his mother? Do you think that Jesus, who obeyed His law of "honor thy father and thy mother" perfectly, would treat His mother poorly? Are you saying that Jesus wouldn't take His sinless mother to be in heaven with Him?

Nope.

Nope.

Nope. I am saying that she is dead and waiting in the tomb for Jesus to come "
in the clouds of heaven..."(Matt. 24:30) and be raised to meet her son in the air. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."(1 Thess 4:16-17)
