CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some Bibles describe Mary as a "young woman" so I always assumed she was over 18.

In that culture womanhood was regarded as the first menses. This could be commonly 12 to 15.

Some of us like definitive answers on dozens of these types of questions. From my readings over the decades it seems to me that there were different opinions in ancient times just as there are now on many topics. So I now find anyone who says this is what they believed in ancient times to be misleading. Ya, someone believed that, but others believed something different.
When I was a freshman in high school a 13 year girl in my small home town got herself pregnant because she wanted to be married. Now this was in the mid 60s. So even recently I know examples that don't fit the norm.
