  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alright, I'm just wondering here. We need salvation through Jesus Christ because we have sinned. But Mary has not sinned. Why does she need salvation through Jesus Christ?
Look at it this way. Through the Blood of Christ, God who exists outside space and time, kept sin from touching Mary. If Christ had not died for us, She would not have been concieved Immaculately.

We can say that Mary still needed redemption, which is why she called God as her saviour. But unlike us, she was saved by God in advance, because she was destined to be the mother of the Saviour. God, being perfectly holy would never allow a sinner to be the vehicle for His Son's coming to earth.

Peace and Blessings

It's like the difference between Jesus saving/pulling someone out of the pit of sin and Jesus saving/preserving one from ever falling into it. Both are saved by Jesus Christ, but in different ways. Normatively speaking, persons are saved by Jesus via the first method. Mary, however, is unique in that she, and she alone, was saved by Christ via the second method, by being preserved from ever falling into the pit of sin. Yet all are saved by Him, even Mary. :)

Okay, just a visitor here, but "mary has not sinned"? Said WHO? That's just not true. Sin is passed down through the father. Mary had an earthly father. Jesus, with a Heavenly Father is the ONLY One who has no sin.

Avaya, this is a Catholic belief that Mary is the Immaculate Conception. If you want to learn about it you can ask, but this is not the place to ridicule the doctrines of Christ's Church. There are plenty of other Protestant sites to do that.

Avaya, we'll give you the ebnefit of the doubt that you're not aware of the forum rules here, but you are not allowed to debate Catholic beliefs in this forum. Mary's sinless is a matter of Catholic doctrine...

Avaya,

Just to reiterate what NDIrish said. Non-Catholics are not permitted to debate Catholic doctrines here in OBOB. Consider this a friendly reminder from OBOB staff.

You may want to read through the rules prior to posting again: Click here for rules

And by the way, welcome to OBOB. :)
