Martin Luther a man who had a routine he practiced every morning, one that is like none I have ever heard of. No, he did not run 10 miles every day before he started, nor did he eat the same breakfast every day, seven days a week for his whole life. However, he would set aside an hour before he would start his day to pray. An HOUR! I dont think I have ever prayed for an hour at one time, little alone in a day. But this man did it everyday, well almost
if he knew his day would be filled to the brim he would sleep in, no, thats something I would do. He would actually get up and pray for two hours. Count them, one, two. What does one pray about for two hours? Better yet, who in their right mind gets up two hours before they have to? If I dont have class till 12:00 I sleep until at least 10. Which gives me plenty of time to get ready, catch the bus, and get a bite to eat. Sure I have plenty of time to pray in between there but it slips my mind. One thing I need to work on is this very thing. The first thing I should do in the morning is go to the Lord. Before I brush my teeth, before I get something to eat, and especially before I check my email, I should go to the Lord. If I do anyone of those things first than the chances of me spending time with God diminish. Many of us cant get going in the morning without that cup (or two) of coffee. That coffee is what gets us going in the morning. Spending time with the Lord in the morning will do that same thing but on a deeper level. Imagine if the first thing you do in the morning is spend time in the Bible and in prayer. Imagine if you say a simple prayer that gets you on the same page as God right from the start. Imagine spending time in the morning with God where you think about NOTHING except God and whats his will for you that day. Mark 1:35 (NIV): Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
