If you've read his articles, what would you answer to his method of proving that God is imaginary?

To have Christians pray that everyone in the world get healed all at once just one second after you say, Amen.

He said, "All that you have to do is ask, right?"

Sorry that I don't give an url, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to yet.

Oh my... I checked out his web page (How Stuff Works) and found that he has over 42,000 articles. So he's the one I watch time to time on TV. I didn't pay attention to who Marshall was.

Since it could take 19 years to go through his "stuff" it may be a while on a response, at least from me. Wow... that could take a lot of popcorn.

AND!... this is what I would look like after just going through a fraction of his articles...

I would say his method is illogical, due to the reality of not being able to organize such a experiment.

It is simply a pseudo intellectual muse proposition of a Gedankenexperiment.

Harry, the question really gets focused on the new book "How God Works," which is Marshall Brain's "theological" thesis on why there is no God.

Juelrei,

First, concerning the larger question about the book...I'm not sure this is the forum for the discussion. Something on atheism or apologetics may get more input.

You did phrase a question pointedly at the faith group, though. "...have Christians pray that everyone in the world get healed..." and "All that you have to do is ask, right?"

Well, no. That's not all there is to it.

A faithless person falls more along the lines of:

James 1:6-8 (NET)
6 But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 since he is a double-minded individual, unstable in all his ways.

Simply asking is not enough. All the world's people saying "Amen!" doesn't cut it.

It is funny how an atheist like Brain suddenly discovers the "logic" to make God disappear.

While other atheists like Michael Behe, Anthony Flew and Dr. Francis S. Collins have come out of atheism to embrace faith. So what makes Brain any better? In fact, let's have him get into a debate over microbiology with Behe or debate the gnome with Collins. I think these latter men would come out on top -- so why not the God argument?

Understood. That's why I added "at least from me" just to keep the post going.

My quote: (Since it could take 19 years to go through his "stuff" it may be a while on a response, at least from me.)

Thanks for your response to my post.

I don't mean to offend, but I sort of feel like I've just given a meat shop to a starving dog. ^_^

Juelrei,

First, concerning the larger question about the book...I'm not sure this is the forum for the discussion. Something on atheism or apologetics may get more input.
I considered that, but the topic he speaks on is concerning a Christian's faith. And also, my choice of posting was according to my particular brand of faith.

Which, not all Christians understand.
You did phrase a question pointedly at the faith group, though. "...have Christians pray that everyone in the world get healed..." and "All that you have to do is ask, right?"

Simply asking is not enough. All the world's people saying "Amen!" doesn't cut it.
So far, these too were my thoughts.
It is funny how an atheist like Brain suddenly discovers the "logic" to make God disappear.
Since he seems to think of God as a genie for Christians to order around, and adds that it doesn't work; it seems that he sort of has his own brand of hocus pocus that doesn't really work.
Ah yes, the unmentioned issue of all Atheists.. that of his fellow Atheists who're defying his logic. ^_^

Thanks for responding to my post. :)

Thanks Juelrei... for bringing up Marshall Brain whom I had never heard of before... and from what I read from the other responses, I don't need to spend much time in his web site... let alone 19 years.

I munch on much more popcorn than I need but this time I was hungry for the larger box. And I won't be pulling any more of my hair out since my time in his site is to be greatly shortened.

No more meat for the starving dog. (That was neat!) :)

Walk in... The Blessing,

My thoughts exactly.

Thank you for responding to my post. :)

Thanks for posting,it was a good thing to ask.

So many people are misleading by presenting impossible scenarios for the Christian community to answer.

By doing this they assume their points are valid, and hope their audience will follow.

It is as simple as turning the table around by asking them the same type of question.
example: what was the original force that caused the big bang, and what created it? It is a infinite question that atheist cry fowl over.

Those of us in Christ have no need to prove God.
We are alive in body and spirit.

Unfortunately it seems to me Atheist are trying to disprove God.
Their Spirit is seeking God but their prideful minds want to be equal with God.

In essence they want to be God.
There are false doctrines that teach man after he dies he becomes God in another world, sad but true.

Pray for them to turn away from pride and accept the calling their spirit longs for.

1 Corinthians 2:14King James Version (KJV)

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
