Well folks its been quite some time since I have had any kind of meaningful interaction on this MB but I have a good excuse for not being around as much. It all started on the 10th March 2005 when a certain lady who took the name of John Calvins wifes first name Idelette and created the screen name of Puritan Idelette and became a member of CF. Some of you folks who migrated to CF from Free republic may recognize her but most here will not as she did not post here very often. Little did she, and I, realize that her coming here was to be in the providence of God as the vehicle whereby He would bring us together in marriage!
It all started when Puritan Idelette responded via PM to a post I made on our own welcome thread jokingly asking for a pint of Guiness at: http://www.christianforums.com/t670487-welcome-to-the-dining-hall-of-the-reformed.html who would have thought that Irish stout and an interest in Calvins institutes would be instrumental in bringing two people together in marriage?
Some of you will be aware that I was testing a call to ministry in Scotland; but you will not be aware that Puritan Idelette and myself were also testing a call to marriage at the same time! Well the long and the short of it has been that after much testing and counsel we have discerned that the Lord has indeed brought us together for each other. The logistics of who would be crossing the Atlantic was already worked out in Gods providence by bringing about the circumstances that would make it possible for me to come to the USA. One of my concerns was that as I would be moving to Indiana and there are no reformed seminaries near to where I would be living that I would not be able to continue my call to ministry but the God in his providence has provided the means via: http://www.pca-mna.org/lamp/lamp.htm
Linda and I were married at Grace Presbyterian Church here in Indianapolis on Saturday 25th Feb. We just returned from the first leg of our honeymoon at Marshall in Michigan. The second leg will take place in Scotland when I am granted leave to travel freely to and from the USA.
The story of how the Lord brought us together is much longer than the words of this post alone. Suffice to say that we are a living testimony that God truly does Work all things together for good to them that love Him and that nothing will hinder His purposes.
It is probably true of all Christian marriages that every couple has a favorite verse or passage of scripture that they feel is relevant to their particular relationship, ours is from Psalm 34:3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
Our greatest concern is that as we grow in the knowledge of God together, that we will exalt his name together!
Our mutual request from all who read this post is that you will offer up a prayer of intercession that God will truly exalt Himself through our marriage and use us for His glory and purposes and that we will make the name of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ famous among all who will cross our path! Please pray for us to that end!
