In 1991 I heard about the need to be born again from a fellow student.
It alarmed me that the Bible was so clear in defining repentance, baptism by full immersion in water and baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
I grappled with this for several weeks because it made so much sense,
however it was in direct conflict with the teaching I had received in the Lutheran church. Eventually I decided that the only way I could confirm that this was the truth was to approach God, who cannot lie.
So I attended a house meeting with the intention of being baptised and to seek God
for the Holy Spirit. I was baptised that evening and shortly after receiving the Holy Spirit, instantly speaking in tongues as the Bible describes.
From that moment I had the realisation that this was the truth and that I had had an experience with the God of the Bible.
Since then I have experienced more blessings and miracles and a deeper understanding of the scriptures. I was married to Jayne in April 2008 and subsequently, we were blessed with the birth of our daughter, Arianna.
Arianna’s early hearing tests indicated no response from one of her ears so we decided to pray for her, and follow up tests proved normal for both ears.
Later, she contracted conjunctivitis, which did not respond to the commonly prescribed treatments so after some months we decided to take her to a specialist eye hospital
with the thought that surgical intervention may be necessary.
However, at the Sunday meeting the church prayed for her and the condition disappeared and has not returned since.
I thank God for His Spirit and truth that is ever present in my life and in the life of my family.

Acts 2:38
We see miracles like that all the time. We have a stray cat here that just had kittens and one of her kittens had problems with it's eyes. The mother would lick the discharge and that was all she could do. We tried to clean them but the kitten would not let us. So I prayed and the condition cleared up and the kitten is just as healthy at the other kitten are. Oh maybe we could have spent money and gone to the vet and gotten come medicine but prayer was a lot faster and a lot easier.

We are taught to pray it through. We are to keep praying about something until we know that God has received our petition. His rock solid promise to us is that He will not disappoint us. We know that all things work out for the best and that He has everything under control. In everything there is a plan and a purpose so if he does not give us overcoming faith then we receive enduring faith.

This is a wonderful story and a great demonstration of God's blessings.

Forty years ago I was an atheist hospitalized with a severe case of asthma. The doctors were unable to break the chest spasm; I was barely able to breathe. A pastor with whom I had been debating about Christianity came to the hospital, put her hands on my chest, and prayed "Jesus, heal this man". I was immediately and totally healed, became a believer, received the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in tongues two days later. I have not had allergies since.

Last September I had triple bypass cardiac surgery. (I was very fortunate to not have died because of that condition.) After the surgery I was in cardiac intensive care and began my recovery. I was expected to walk as much as I could, so I took that literally, "doing laps" around the unit several times a day. Finally the head nurse said she had not seen anyone recover so quickly in her eight years on the unit. I told her that it wasn't me that did it but God, and that Jesus was my healer and the one who gave me the strength.

God works in wonderful ways every day. Thanks for sharing your story, and may God continue to bless you and your beautiful family.

Yes exercise is very good to strengthen the muscles in the heart. I had a situation where my heart ejection fraction was low and my weight was high. My GP doctor would not even return my phone calls because he did not think I was going to live and he had written me off. My cardio doctor who did not write me off and he put me in a cardiac therapy exercise program. So I have built up my ejection fraction and reduced my weight. I still have further to go, but I am stronger and more healthy now. People think we do not have to follow the diet we find in the Bible but for me my life depends on exercise, diet and stress control. A lot of my problem was a result of being lazy. Exercise was difficult so I did not exercise and that was a big mistake. No one says that the way to life is easy. In fact it can be difficult. The way to death and destruction is the easy way to go.

the Holy Spirit gives different gifts to different people
In rare situations there are people that receive all of the ministry gifts. Of course to whom much is given much is expected.

I guess different strokes for different folks...

But in the Revival Fellowship we have the expectation that all converts and all members shall
speak in tongues and thereby be able to pray in the Spirit. Works for us.
And therefore we have no schisms and arguments about who is baptized in the Holy Spirit
and ain't. Everybody is the same in doctrine and in their experience of Mark 16:
these signs shall follow them that believe.
We have a unity and peace that we all share as saints.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body,
being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles,
whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
For the body is not one member, but many.

whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to, ,"
Notice something here, won't you? The Spirit's ability to describe quite plainly, as in "made to [speak in tongues]."

For I’m afraid you have delved privately. God does not confuse with tone nor figurative nor will I. Does the Spirit ever finally say one way or another plainly - We all shall? No, not once even though Paul did come oh-so close, it was just never meant to be’

“I would that you all spoke with tongues”
(1 Corinthians 14:5)
Very close. Shall we take the time when He, the Holy Spirit said all of them did (past tense) speak in tongues? What purpose does this serve? I’ll tell you what it tells us; that the Spirit was quite able to tell us WHEN and WHO and HOW MANY did speak in tongues, for as it reads,

“All of them, , began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them”
(Acts 2:4)
Plainly, we see no confusion to this instruction; He openly describes all of them did use the gift, , till the time came for Him to write us the Corinthian passage,

"Do all speak in tongues?”
(1 Corinthians 12:30)
To answer; no, why? Because,

“God has appointed in the church, , various kinds of tongues”
(1 Corinthians 12:28)

“For to one is given, , various kinds of tongues”
(1 Corinthians 12:8,10)

This is why they will ever wrest the truth away from the fact, never, did He tell us such as it does here,

Something to the effect of “All Christians shall speak in tongues”

Though we can ask, exhort, pray all the day long right along with the Apostle,

“I would that you all spoke with tongues”, But that is as close as it gets, “Do all speak in tongues?

Bait for unskilled interpretations to impose, truth isn’t always easy, but to stray is always hard. To preach the confusion behind “All will speak in tongues” isn’t abiding in truth.
