  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When I talked with the social security department, I told them I wasn't sure what my marital status was.

I was divorced probably 40 years ago. He remarried and they had children together who are now grown.

Then, about 3 years ago, he passed away. I was told that I'm a widow. That felt odd, but I suppose it's correct.

So, I'm single. I'm divorced, and I'm also widowed. That's really confusing, but I guess so has my life been, confusing.

I'm wondering if there are any other divorced/widowed people in here.

I have never been divorced, but I had an interesting conversation with my lawyer who is drawing up my new will. She has never drawn a will for a widow who was only married once and whose spouse was only married once and whose children were from that one single marriage. Interesting!

Wow, Jean. That's awful!

I see so many Christians who have been married and divorced several times. I wonder if they ever meant it when they said their vows, "till death do we part."

I was only 16 when I married John and there was no love between us. We were young and foolish.

Saved at 34, I've never remarried...at least, not yet. If I do get married again, it will be until death do we part.

Everyone's story is different than one another's. With my having been through so many different things, I've had a hard time anywhere (widows or divorced or both).

Thank you for your response. I was wondering whether anyone would reply.

God bless you and Merry Christmas!!

Love,

Ann
