  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Awww I feel special getting my own missing in action thread hehehe~ ^_^ Yup! Everything is still in one piece, I 'spose you could say~ My appointment was this morning. Had something of a high blood pressure and protein in the urine? Course this gave the doctor more fuel in which to try and convince me to induce and such. She even dared to tell me (after I told her I still wasn't going to induce) while poking around in the pelvic exam "Alright, I'm going to strip your membranes now." I nearly crawled backwards off the table and said "Oh, no thank you! " Mom said her hand shot out of me like a bolt of lightning. So after beating around the bush some more and mom giving her a good piece of her mind, the doctor said she wanted the nurse to check my blood pressure again (like it would be lower after that fiasco..) and it turned up to 147/100 or so. She sent me down to the labor and delivery ward to get hooked on a fetal moniter and blood pressure cuff to see if it would go down and just as we told them it would, my blood pressure happily went down to 114/72 (Praise God!).
So they discharged me and I'm set to go back to the doctor on Thursday (unless I go into labor by then).

Though today was pretty stressful and my mom nearly threw her book at the doctor, I found out I'm 1 itty cm dialated and the nurses and doctor on call in the maternity unit were so nice compared to the ones I've been seeing upstairs~

Thankies for the prayers~ I really feel like God gave me a heads up on the stripping of the membranes today because I had just started telling mom about reading how some doctors will do it without even telling you on the way to the doctor's office today so it was fresh in my mind for some reason.

Ugh-- I just hate that doctors feel like they can do whatever they want---whatever happened to asking.

On Thursday- find out the amount of protein in your urine...if it is a trace it's no biggie...if it's +1 or greater it can be an issue.

There can be ketones in your urine if you are not properly nourished and hydrated (if you had been doing stuff in the morning without eating well, for example...this happens to me sometimes- where I a feel just too busy to eat) The protein in your urine shows that your body is being taxed.

However it can also be a sign of pre-eclampsia- where the albumin in your blood is unable to be broken down because your liver is not functioning properly. This is a for real kind of emergency... focus over the next couple of days on eating protein- at least 80g....it's the antidote for pre-eclampsia.

 Can't wait to see your new little one!

you really need to find out how much protein is in the urine. Ask the doctor for a 24 hour urine test..its where you collect all your urine over 24 hours and they test it. Protein in the urine combined with high blood pressure can be a sign of pre-eclampsia and that is dangerous. I had to be induced at 35 weeks with my last son becuz of pre-e. With my mother, they waited TOO long to induce and the pre-eclampsia turned into full blown eclampsia and she started having seizures and had all kinds of bad stuff happen. Not to scare you, but honestly..if its pre-e...and your already due anyways..just get induced. The ONLY "cure" for pre-e is to get the baby OUT. The pre-e could get drastically worse in a matter of days unfortunately. It really is nothing to mess around with at all.

Thanks again for the sweet words, gals~ Much, much love!

A small update and prayer request! My blood pressure is normal when not taken around the crazy people who keep trying to get me to induce and the protein in my urine was "trace" today so yay! I'm still 1 cm dialated but my cervix is softening nicely, he said. Another yay! Bad thing is, the doctors are starting to officially twitch more since I'm past my due date and the ultrasound lady said my placenta is starting to show "wear and tear".

My next appointment is on Monday which will put me at 41 and 1. Please pray that, if it's God's will, things kick in and we get this baby rolling without having to induce by then. I don't know if it's that I've just lately been at peace about being pregnant that my body doesn't want to jump start or what but I think I'm finally ready to have this baby! ^_^

That's good news about your urine and blood pressure!!! All placentas start to show "wear and tear" towards the end. :doh:The "average" first time mom goes into labor 10 days AFTER her due date- if she is left alone. I wish they would get a due date for first time moms- and add a week and make that her "official due date".

Seriously- you are not considered "late" until you are 42+ weeks- even at your next appointment (if there is one) there is no reason for you to be induced if that is not what you want- and if there is no immediate concern for you or baby. If your vitals and baby's vitals are good- there is no reason to induce, unless that is what you want.

Again- if they are pressuring you to induce- ask first if they would try stripping your membranes or using prostaglandin gel...and seeing if labor begins within the next 24-48 hours. Both of those things are often very effective when a women is on the cusp of being ready for labor! Stay out of the hospital as long as you can- but also don't hesitate to go if you just feel safer there

Take a vigorous walk everyday...try to really gets lots of rest...take really good care of yourself. Your baby will be here before the month is through!! This time next month you will have given birth and be a birth veteran!
