I really need some advice right now as to which branch would be best for me to enlist in. Please dont hide any information which could ease my decision making. And dont debate on this thread. Just tell me why or why not I should join either one. Take this seriously, please. I am going through a lot of stress, and I need help to ease this stress. I feel like the military is the place for me to go after Highschool, but I dont know which would be best for me.

Some of the things which I am looking for are: College money, travel, discipline, skills for future career.

A lot of the jobs in both branches are similar so your decision might come down to one issue - do you like boats? If so, Marines, if not, Army.

The Marines might have more travel opportunity for diverse assignments, but they have fewer bases for you to be assigned to. The Army is heavily deployed overseas right now so you'd likely wind up leaving CONUS after AIT.

Hmmm...
I'm planning on staying in the minimum mandatory sentence, unless I actually like it, which would be unlikely.

Travel is pretty important to me, whether it be on duty or not, doesnt matter. I'd just like to know which would result in me being able to go to more places I want to go to.

If you're only staying in an enlistment, then choose a job that figures well on the outside world, for example being an infantryman probably won't look on a resume when trying to apply for a job (though maybe for a managerial position).

Go to a community college. The military doesn't need just another 4 year person(have to be politically correct). Get your grades up, transfer to a 4 year accredited university or college, get your degree. If you want join the Researves or the National Guard, but expect to be deployed. Definitely don't join the Marines(mainly because they won't want you).

Mmm. Navy would be my last choice. Air Force isnt out of the question.

Here are a few facts. I dont do good in school. I get bad grades. I know what college I am going after (Full Sail), and I am going to get a degree in Game Design. I think I'd rather get college money from the Military than pay myself into poverty with a student loan. But, idk. I need more advice, plz.

The best reason to go Army or Marines is a quest for combat.
The Army has more MOS promotion and deployment options.
Fleet Marines get to ride around in boats and marines have cooler dress uniforms.
The Army has more overall options and better stuff.
Marines are big on discipline and unit honor.
Army officers are more likely to put a higher priority on taking care of troops.
Marine officers tend to be more concerned with acting like Marine officers. Put it this way.
Marine officers never seem to tire of being saluted.
Unit tactics can be very different.

The best thing is to take your scores to all branches and see what jobs they can offer.
Maybe decide on a job first then a branch of service.
Say you want to be a medic you might go Navy their basic medic is very well trained. But Navy Medics could be assigned to a marine unit.
If you want to jump out of planes, the Army is big on that.
If you just want a job to, be in the rear with the gear, you can find that too.
You might want to fix your sights on a couple of jobs then ask non-recruiters what those MOS' are really like.

Personaly I'd think long and hard about enlisting especially in the Army or Marines.
But if your set on seeing it for yourself.
Let the recruiters compete for you...
Try not to go for their emotional "this could be you" pitch, or any hard sell.
Play interested but open to your options.
I think they let you re-take the test if you need a better score.

If one of my kids was going to do this and I'm glad they are not, I would push the Navy; for the best training and variety of deployment.
Most of my Navy Vet buddies seem to generally regard the experience as worthwhile.

lol...well, my boyfriend did seem to love all that. I dunnow why. But, anyway, I am SO glad he's not in the military anymore, I mean I love that he wants to serve his country, but I couldn't deal with him being gone so long nor could I deal with him being in a war.

Okay...first of all, if you really want to be in the military, my advice to you is get a better grade on the ASVAB. The better grade you get, the better MOS you can get. I scored pretty good and I got a kick *** job. At times it sucks but, I know that with my clearance and with the training I've received, I can get ANY job I want when I get out. I've heard of people getting a job with NASA once they got out of the army with this MOS. If you can, try to get an MOS which requires at Top Secret clearance. The army pays 75,000.00 for you to get this clearance, so it is very valuable in the civilian world. It looks awesome on your resume. Another thing, if you're looking for college money, don't request a bonus, but a higher value GI bill. I am squared away with a 100,000.00 GI bill and I cannot complain one bit. The army takes 100.00 out of your paycheck for a year and you get 100,000.00? Not bad at all. Yeah, the school was mentally demanding. There were a couple of times I had to retake tests because they're so full of attention-to-detail tasks, but if you can handle that, then you'll be fine. Right now I'm in Korea and I am loving it here. I go out every weekend. In fact, I'm planning on going out a little later today to do some shopping down in the Ville and get some gifts for family and friends back home. I don't plan on making a career out of the army either. I came in because I didn't know what I wanted to go to school for yet and it gave me time to sort my thoughts out. Now I know without a doubt what I want, I've got college money, I've got skills and qualities to be in high demand in the civilian world and I've learned the things it takes to survive (i.e. leadership skills, time management, a clearance, independence and teamwork skills). So, I'd ask your recruiter what Intelligence MOSes are available with a Top Secret Clearance. And if I'm correct, it's more points for him, too, if he can get you an MOS like that. If you have any more questions about the kind of stuff that I do, then just give me an email and I'll see if I can help you. If you're good at learning a different language, they're always looking for interpreters/interrogators (even though they've gotten a bad rep since all this stuff in the news lately), but you can also get great jobs with a second language. Anyways, I think that was more than 2 cents, but hope I helped you out some.

Yeah you could be a spook just like on 24.
Or you could get paid to listen to foreign radio and TV.
Learn the ins and outs of electric generators while your at it.

After Nam I was assigned to ADA, it was mostly radar and rockets but tucked away in a corner was a defense language institute. They used our dispensary for sick call.
Some of the people there had to have an escort just to come in for medical or dental procedures.
The government wanted to be sure that the spooks weren't drugged and asked questions.

For sure you should try to get your score as high as possible, besides the mos choices, it will pay off in other ways too.
