Would it be a sin to read Mein Kampf or Marx's Communist Manifesto?

There are times when information or insight can be gained from external sources. There is also a point where too much reading and input begins to take root, and influence one's thinking and outlook.

Can you self-regulate well enough to see that you don't sin when you are influenced by Manson? Can you be honest with yourself about it?

"Do not let the sun set on your anger" reminds us that it is not the initial anger that causes sin, but the choice to hold onto resentment. Similarly, we are surrounded by a world that presents suffering, injustice, corruption, slander, and deception; but we do not have to support it.

There is truth when a singer sympathizes with those who have been oppressed or treated poorly; but are they playing on emotions too much, to a point that enrages you over something that is not fully true? Are the lyrics presenting information with too much of a bias?

Guard your own mind.

I don't know if I'd call it a sin, but as with everything, you probably should ask, "Does it glorify God?"

Marilyn Manson has made it abundantly clear that he does NOT glorify God, but loves Satan. Remember that he even had an album titled 'Antichrist Superstar'. Of course, that stuff may be mostly show biz hype, but nonetheless it isn't very edifying.

My 2 cents.

I would ask myself how does listening to him help you spiritually grow in Christ? What does marilynn have in common with Christ? They interviewed many celebrities about what their views of God was and if they believed on him. Marilynn was among those interviewed and he said he was attracted to the dark side. Php 4:8 - says to think on these things - whatever is lovely, true, just, honest and of a good report. Does Marilynn fit this description? It sure doesn't appear like it.

if you listen to his music because you like it, or him, or his life-style, then yea seeing how he is a self declared anti-christ. You might as well pretend your God's friend but go behind his back to play with the devil.

Well, personally I'd stop listening to any self confessed Anti-Christ's music. Not because of it neccessarily being a sin per-se, but out of love for my Father, and my awesome Holy Helper - not to mention my Saviour...

Is it a sin to listen to marilyn manson?

It appears you either question it or think it is a sin. So therefore if you go ahead and listen to it you are guilty of sin:

Romans
Chapter 14

22 Keep the faith (that) you have to yourself in the presence of God; blessed is the one who does not condemn himself for what he approves.

23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because this is not from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

Let me respond to this again... I dont listen to Marilyn Manson anymore .. although sweet dreams will come on the radio every now and then and Ill listen to it.. cause the sound is nice.... I dont know which category of music to put him ... though...

I have respect for all music but some of it needs to really cool it down with the lyrics it is teaching far too much of the wrong things...

I am a rock girl though.. I loooove rock music... Its all good music to me but sometimes the hard metal gets me thinking negative... releasing anger.. Its good to release as long as it doesnt hurt anyone or yourself... but I think its very important to focus on the messages in lyrics sometimes... and what we are feeding into our minds...

It depends on the heart.
I personally love hard/metal rock. Always have, Always will.
I like a lot of Mansons stuff. (also his name was not played off of Charles Mansons' name)
A lot of Christians will judge you for listening to him. If you like him because he is "dark" and "evil" and so-called "anti-christian" (when actually he's just anti-religion if you ever watch an interview with him, which I would suggest before judging)
If you like him because he's taboo - then you're enjoying the music for all the wrong reasons.
I like his voice, tone and type of music.
I also enjoy a good Rob Zombie jam every once and while too.

Is it a sin? No.

Not everything can be edifying and beautiful. We live in a fallen world. You can strive to only give your attention to godly things, but if you walk down the street you've already failed.
You can be idealistic sure - but I'm sure we all enjoy a good movie that is rated slightly higher than "G", we play violent games, groove to raunchy music and read books that have lust and other worldly sins in it.
No one is perfect.

And I highly doubt that Manson's music is going to make you kill someone or denounce Christ.
You still have free will ya know.

Sorry, you're wrong. When he first became popular, he and his band all adopted names that were first part glamorous celebrity, second part serial killer.

As far as the topic goes: I don't believe just listening to his music is a sin, as others here have already said. But should you be listening to it, as a Christian? Probably not.

Here is my test for music, and everthing else:

Jesus is with us all the time, and that is 24/7. So when you are listening to music he's listening with you ... so do you think at that very moment that he would enjoy what mr. manson is singing?

This would be your answer ...
