Anybody wanna see it? I do because I like Sofia Coppola, not to crazy about Kirsten Dunst, but I think I can look past that.

Well, she directs this movie, and if I'm not mistaken wrote it also, so she is not performing in itSophia Coppola is attractive, but I wasn't to thrilled with her performance in The Godfather Part III. Maybe she's gotten better.
oops, sorryOh, you made it sound like she was acting.
I did hear she was a good director.
*Must rent The Virgin Suicides*

The film looks great (fantastic costumes, shooting on location in Versailes!!!), but I'm afraid the movie might actually glorify Ms. Antoinette's frivolity more than it condemns it. There might be too much sympathising with the devil, though naive and foolish that devil might be. *shrugs*
I would say that upholding superficiality as "fun" would make young minds watching the film feel liberated to continue or jump into, more of a life of carefree idiocy.Frivolity isn't inherently evil. Plus with such an unimportant issue, the movie will probably not take sides.
You also have to consider the age that Marie Antoneitte was when she went the the French court, I think she was only 11. Of course she was frivolous, she was only a child and lived her entire life in indulgence and excess. So painting her as someone different then what she has been portrayed might be a good thing. The film looks great (fantastic costumes, shooting on location in Versailes!!!), but I'm afraid the movie might actually glorify Ms. Antoinette's frivolity more than it condemns it.
