In one of his first interviews as Pope Leo XIV, the Chicago-born pontiff discussed with NBC News’ Lester Holt the impact that a first-ever American pope may have in the United States, where data already suggests there are several states where Catholicism is on the rise.

The South and the Pacific Northwest sees the most converts to Catholicism?

Glory to God!

Especially considering the South was considered anti-Catholic, and the pacific Northwest was considered "non-religious."

I thought there would be more Catholics in my state. That is just weird. However, where I'm at, it seems that there is a greater concentration of Catholics, but I could be mistaken. I live almost on the border between two counties. The county east of me has a decent number of Catholic Churches, but the Catholic Churches are definitely sparser in the county west of me. I don't like the latter county as much anyway, it's triggering (hard to explain why).
