  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I hope your dog doesn't have mange. :( I see dogs with mange at work all the time. There are two types- Demodex and Sarcoptic. Demodex is more common. Like so many things these little mites live naturally on the skin on almost all dogs, but when things are thrown off they take over. They live in the hair follicles so the vet will have to scrape the skin until he/she gets follicles (often until it bleeds) to get a sample that will show mites. Sometimes they're hard to find on the microscope even then. The usual treatment (as long as it's not really advanced) will be anti-mite medication (i.e. ivermectin, etc.) and/or bathing with a special dip that will kill the mites. The treatment can take several weeks to months, but it is treatable and successful. It's generally not very contagious to other dogs by way of casual contact. Most people keep their dogs bathed often enough, in good enough health, and in a clean enough environment that it's not a major problem.

I hope that your vet visit goes well. Please let us know what the diagnosis was.

Thanks for the support Sabina it is really appreciated. We took her to the vet and it is not the mite that causes mange. Thank You Lord. We had her shaved for the summer because her underneath fur is just like soft, soft wool and she was so knotted, I couldn't keep up with it, I have arthritis and can't get to her as often as I should. Anyway the vet said nothing showed on the scrapings and he said that he thought it was insect bites. She has been on the antibiotic and the antihistimine for 2 days now and you can already see a big difference in her. She is energetic again and her eyes are brighter, she just looks and acts more like the dog that we had before all of this seemed to take over. Thank you for your help though and explanation. :amen:
